Most Dangerous Day to Drive
Stay off the road on Dec. 15. Why?
According to Allstate Insurance, that's
the most dangerous day to drive -- at
least in California.
What makes Dec. 15 the "April Fools Day" for Golden State driving? According to Allstate, there are really no extraordinary reasons. Simply, the insurer crunched all its claims figures and determined that for whatever the factors the daily average for accident claims skyrockets by 23% on that date.
Allstate reports an average of 539 California accidents on Dec. 15, yet the overall daily average number of accidents is 435.
The carrier offers a few possible reasons for the anomaly: weather, holiday shopping, travel or other distractions. The second most accident-prone day on the calendar, according to Allstate? Feb. 14. There must be a lot of drivers rushing to the florist that day.
